Ron's Experience of TM

I must admit I came into Transcendental Meditation with a fair bit of apprehension, trepidation and definitely a skeptical mind.  Turning up to learn was a bit daunting, not knowing what was in front of me either with who I was meeting or indeed what I was letting myself in for.  I did have confidence in my belief because of the research I had done in both looking at TM online and with the introductory talk with Norma at the Glasgow Centre on a zoom meeting and indeed with Jackie who made zoom contact after I had shown interest just after the New Year.  That was probably what made me decide this was for me as Jackie explained the whole process so calmly and precisely.

Emotional Stability with Transcendental Meditation

In our busy life and current situation of rapid global transformation it is a real challenge to stay clear in the mind, while feeling fresh in the body for extended periods of time. With these ongoing demands there is the ever increasing impact on our resilience and emotional coping. Consequently, our personal, professional and relational lives are negatively influenced by stress, tension and fatigue. In losing the natural ability to self-regulate amidst overwhelm we cannot recognise ourselves. If Emotional Health is a positive state of well-being which enables an individual to be able to function in society andmeet the demands of everyday life’how many of us can say “I feel emotionally healthy”?  Fortunately, repeated practice of Transcendental  Meditation has been shown to improve emotional health.

TM Brings Balance To My Mental Health

I manage Bipolar Disorder on a daily basis; but up until a year ago I would have said that I ‘suffer from’ Bipolar Disorder and naively self-referenced as I ‘am’ Bipolar, or simply: I’m Bipolar.

A year ago I would have guffawed and sworn that Transcendental Meditation was pseudo-religious mumbo-jumbo designed to take money from the weak minded, but now I see that it’s more of a millennia year old science (without the assistance of computers) designed to free the strong and healthy mind that we all have. And if you think Shakespeare had it tough documentation-wise hundreds of years ago then spare a thought for the Vedic monks thousands of years ago.

Having done Transcendental Meditation for the first time in the TM centre in the centre of Glasgow, I walked down the stairs through the quiet building and out into the busy main street where people went this way and that at the jostling junction, and before my eyes…everyone was in slow motion. I was stunned and tickled but it didn’t persist, and I forgot about it until a later date, when Angela Landers told me that the world looked slowed down to me because I had slowed down. Already I was more calm, and I suppose, in a sense(s), my perspective on the world and on life had already adjusted for the better.

Maharishi Sukshma Marma Treatment

Sukshma Marma treatment enlivens prana.  Prana works on many levels of our being.   Prana is the vital force of life.  Present in all living being, it is what animates and maintains our life.

‘Pr’ means ‘first’.  ‘Ana’ means ‘movement’.  Prana has many functions – to initiate our fine feeling, to move the mind in thinking, to organise our senses and to move everything in the body.  Other functions are to remove blockages, stimulate the function of internal organs and so alleviate everyday complaints, promote self-healing and harmonise mind and body, to improve energy, to tap hidden energy reserves and to connect with nature, life, Consciousness.

Maharishi AyurVeda Health Consultations & Talk 9-12 May 2019

Dr Brennan MB, BCH, MRCGP, MSCI
Talk on Maharishi Marma Therapy & Maharishi AyurVeda

Thursday 9 May 7-9pm (open to the public)

£10 (free to those having a consultation)

Dr Donn Brennan has recently trained as a Marma Therapist. Come along to hear him explain it...

Marma therapies are described in the tradition of Ayurveda but have not been widely used or known about in recent times.

Prana in Ayurveda is the life force, and the energy that heals and reconnects the body’s intelligence to its source. The Marmas are the points (or areas) on the skin where there is a strong connection between consciousness and the physiology. There are 108 points in the body where this energy is especially lively and from these points, prana organises all functions and structure in the body.

In ancient times the understanding of these points travelled and in China became the basis of acupuncture.

In Marma therapy we very gently stimulate the flow of energy in these points. This is done through using aroma oils and very gentle touch.

Personal Health Consultations also available.
Join him in Edinburgh 26-28th, Dundee 29-31 October and Glasgow 1-4 November.

Celebrate Summer Solstice with a Trip to Schiehallion

Summer Solstice at Schiehallion - Spiritual Centre of Scotland

Saturday 22 June 2019

We hope you, your friends and family can join us for our annual walk up Schiehallion and flag raising ceremony.  Our Summer solstice trips to Schiehallion, started in 2006 as a means of bringing everyone together from all over Scotland, for a picnic and group meditation.  The event has continued on ever since.  Schiehallion is close to the Brahmasthan (centre point) of Scotland.  These places have a special significance for the country.  The Brahmasthan embodies the heart values of the country.  So we will travel to the Brahmastahn and meditate there and enliven those qualities for the whole of the nation.
